Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table
Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the party access places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
